Israel marked the National Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Day.

On Monday, May 6, 2024 Israel marked the National Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day.

 

The State of Israel unites in commemorating the six million Jews murdered by the German Nazis and their collaborators during the Holocaust.  It is a day of personal and collective memory.

According to the Jewish calendar, this day symbolizes the fell of the Jewish Ghetto after courageous rebel of the Jews of Poland.

Today there are 132,826 Holocaust survivors living in Israel.

2,500 survivors were victims to the horrific attack on October 7th.

2,000 of them were evacuated from their homes.

The Embassy of Israel in Tirana held an intimate ceremony at the Holocaust monument, with the Jewish and Israeli community in Albania.

Ambassador Galit Peleg mentioned in her speech the horrible attack in the south of Israel on October 7th, which is considered the most horrific attack on Jewish people since the Holocaust.

She also referred to the rising Anti-Semitism in Europe and the US and said that no one should be silenced about it and that the world must prove that “Never Again” is not an empty slogan.

Ambassador Peleg said that just like 80 years ago, Albania shows its courage by standing firmly against Anti-Semitism and terror.
