Please note
Extension of an existing travel document
• In certain situations, a travel document can only be extended if it was originally issued for a period of less than 5 years.
• Any travel document that was originally issued for 5 years, or a total of 5 years have passed since its issuance, cannot be extended and an application for new travel document / passport must be submitted.
• For a request to extend an existing travel document (which was originally issued for a period of less than 5 years).
• Citizens who have not visited Israel in the past 10 years , but have been issued a passport/ travel document for one year, are required to come in person to extend the passport/travel document.
• Extending a passport to a citizen who has not visited Israel for more than ten (10) years requires personal presence. In this case it is not possible to renew the travel document by mail! Their eligibility for a travel document will be examined during the processing of the application and in any case the travel document will be valid for a maximum of one year only, after they enter Israel, they will be able to extend it.
• Extension of a minor's passport is mandatory at a meeting at the embassy. The parents must come with the minor to the meeting at the representative office. If both parents are Israeli and married, it is necessary to be accompanied by only one parent. If the parents are divorced (even if one of the parents is not Israeli) it is necessary for both parents to arrive. If there is only one Israeli parent, the obligation of attendance is on him. Copies of the parents' passports must be brought to the meeting at the embassy (both if they are foreigners and if they are Israelis)..
