Tree Planting with BKK Governor

the Embassy of Israel observes "World Cities Day" by donating trees to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Treeplanting

Today October 31, 2022 the Embassy of Israel observes "World Cities Day" by donating trees to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.  On this occasion, the Ambassador of Israel Ms. Orna Sagiv and the Governor of Bangkok Mr. Chadchart Sirripunt plant frangipani trees at Benchakitti Park. Remarks by the Ambassador is as follows:

Good Afternoon, Sawas Dee Ka, Shalom,

It is my great pleasure to have this opportunity to be here today, with the Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Chadchart, BMA staff, and my colleagues from The Embassy of Israel, together with members of media.

First, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Governor and the BMA, for co-organizing this special event with our Embassy. The tree-planting project, at the beautiful Benjakitti Park, is one of the very first initiatives to be held between the Embassy and the BMA, following our fruitful discussions earlier this year.

Our Embassy donated dozens of trees to the BMA, contributing to the Governor’s goal to plant millions of trees across the Capital. We chose today for this ceremony, as today, October 31st, we mark “World Cities Day”. On this day, all of us make an effort to promote a better future for our cities. We hope our cities, all over the world, will become more Sustainable, Resilient and Greener for the benefit of every citizen.

Israel, a country with a population of less than 10 million people, roughly the size of Bangkok’s population, is delighted and proud to make a modest contribution towards urban sustainability in Bangkok. We hope that today’s event is another step on the way to fulfill Governor Chadchart’s vision to make the Capital of Thailand “a more livable city for all”.

Today’s event marks the beginning of the cooperation between the BMA and our Embassy. These beautiful trees will also be a symbol of friendship between our two peoples. The blooming trees that we plant here today, will reflect the flourishing ties between Israel and Thailand over the past seven decades.

As I discussed with the Governor earlier, Israel is happy to exchange our expertise, knowledge and our innovative ideas with BMA in several concrete projects, including Canal Cleanup, Accessible and Inclusive Playground, Digitized city, and more. We believe such cooperation and collaboration will further benefit the development of Bangkok and enhance our people-to-people relations with the citizens of Bangkok.

Thank you very much, Khob Khun Ka.
