Israeli director wins short film competition at Shanghai International Film Festival

Israeli film director Shira Geffen won the prize for the best Live Action Short Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in June 2024.  Geffen's film "The Event Horizon", which celebrated its world premiere at the festival, tells the story of a girl who is forced to grow up overnight while on vacation in Israel's desert. Israeli film director Shira Geffen won the prize for the best Live Action Short Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in June 2024.

Geffen's film "The Event Horizon", which celebrated its world premiere at the festival, tells the story of a girl who is forced to grow up overnight while on vacation in Israel's desert.

Geffen and two members of her production team, Stav Meron and Itay Morag, arrived in Shanghai to participate in the festival and collect the award.

Two additional Israeli films were screened at the prestigious festival: Running on Sand by Adar Shafran and Lies I Told Myself by Efim Graboy.

The Consulate General of Israel congratulates all the Israeli directors for their successful participation in the festival, which is an important reminder of the important cultural ties between Israel and China.
