The Consulate General of Israel in New York hosted a ceremony to mark 29 years since the tragic assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin

Today, the Consulate General of Israel in New York hosted a ceremony to mark 29 years since the tragic assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and to honor his legacy.

"A cowardly act took the life of a democratically elected leader," said Ambassador Ofir Akunis, Consul General of Israel in New York. “It was an attempt to strike at the heart of Israeli democracy. Rabin’s assassination remains a dark day in our nation's history."

Noa Rothman, an Israeli lawyer and Rabin’s granddaughter, stated: “This year, as so many of our symbols are shaken, and as so many Israelis feel fractured, there is hope: our people are still rising to protect the state and the Zionist dream on all fronts.”
