The Legal Department at the Embassy of Israel in the Kingdom of the Netherlands handles matters relating to international law, as well as local legal issues that are of interest to the State of Israel.
The Department follows closely proceedings and developments at international courts and tribunals that are based in the Hague, and maintains close ties with local think-tanks and academic institutions.
As part of its work, the Department aims to familiarize local decision-makers, leading actors in the world of international law and the Dutch general public with Israel’s robust and diverse legal system, independent judiciary, case law and key legal positions on various issues. Additionally, the Department works toward strengthening and enhancing cooperation between Israel and the Netherlands in various areas related to the law, as well the academic ties in the field of law between the two countries.
