This department is responsible for disseminating information about Guatemalan or Israeli companies to any entrepreneur interested in establishing commercial links or representations in both Guatemala and Israel. Its main objective is to offer Israeli and Guatemalan companies a wide range of business development services, such as sector-specific business seminars in Guatemala and support at trade fairs and exhibitions in Israel.
It coordinates important business meetings to enter the market, with the support of national entities such as the Ministry of Economy, Pronacom, Agexport, Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and others.
It disseminates and distributes information about Israeli culture and the various links of cultural cooperation between Israel and Guatemala.
It coordinates the organization of cultural events such as Israeli exhibitions (art, photography) and cultural presentations, among others. It provides information and support to Guatemalan companies that wish to participate in various events, exhibitions, and seminars to meet with the Israeli business community. It promotes the importation of cutting-edge technologies and joint ventures. Israel's agrotechnological industry is characterized by intensive research and development of innovative systems, stemming from the need to overcome local water and arable land shortages.
The growth of the industry arises from close cooperation between researchers, extension agents, farmers, and related agricultural industries, cooperative efforts that have led to great advances.
Water and Irrigation:
Israel is the most advanced agricultural irrigation user in the world, with irrigation on half of its arable land. The highly innovative Israeli irrigation industry has gained a worldwide reputation, exporting over 80 percent of sector products. Israel is a pioneer in irrigation technology, systems, and accessories, examples of which include:
- Drip irrigation.
- Automatic valves and controllers.
- Media and automatic filtration.
- Low-discharge sprinklers.
- Mini sprinklers and compensated drippers.
Israeli irrigation systems are used worldwide.
Post-Harvest:
An Israeli machine for rinsing fruits and vegetables reduces losses in fresh citrus from 15 percent to less than 2 percent.
Through proper post-harvest treatment, including washing, cleaning, application of sanitation and disinfection materials, size and quantity grading, application of wax coatings, and growth regulators for plants when necessary, freshness can be preserved during long journeys. In addition, advanced packaging specific to the products helps to preserve and protect them, as do modified atmosphere (MA) and controlled atmosphere (CA) cooling systems.
