Held at the Department of Music, the session brought together students, music enthusiasts, and faculty members for an enriching cultural exchange through music.
The Jazz Trio—comprised of Yogev Shetrit (drummer and band leader), David Sheetrit (keyboardist), and Amir Solomon (bassist)—delivered a dynamic workshop blending live performances with educational content.
Participants were introduced to unique traditional rhythms such as Insaraf, Karachi, and Betaihi, along with their corresponding clave, or core rhythmic patterns.
Through live demonstrations, rhythmic exercises, and interactive discussions, the trio showcased how these rhythms can be adapted creatively in contemporary jazz compositions.
The event formed part of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy efforts, aimed at fostering mutual understanding and artistic collaboration between Israel and Ghana.
Participants praised the masterclass for its interactivity and the opportunity to explore the fusion of Middle Eastern and African musical traditions.
The Yogev Shetrit Trio's performance not only highlighted technical mastery but also underscored the universal language of music in bridging cultures.
