Israel reaffirms commitment to peace in Africa, set to collaborate with Ghana on energy development

In a significant statement highlighting Israel's dedication to fostering peace and development in Africa, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Sharren Haskel, emphasized the country's focus on promoting peaceful coexistence as a means of achieving developmental goals in Africa.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday (8 January 2025) as part of her visit to Ghana, Haskel said, “Israel’s focus is also on peace in Africa because we believe that war costs a country so much, and it is always right to promote peaceful coexistence”.

The Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister underscored the importance of stability as a cornerstone for sustainable growth.

She reassured the public about Israel's safety despite ongoing regional challenges. “Israel remains safe for those living there and tourists as well,” she affirmed, addressing concerns about security in the region and encouraging continued engagement with Israel.

Beyond its peace-building efforts, Israel has pledged to support Ghana in its energy sector.

Haskel expressed Israel's commitment to aiding Ghana in overcoming electricity-related challenges.

“It is necessary for Israel to support Ghana to achieve this giant initiative so that electricity consumption in the country will not come with challenges,” she remarked, signaling Israel's readiness to collaborate on innovative solutions for Ghana's energy needs.

This reassurance comes at a time when Ghana is making strides toward addressing its energy demands while maintaining regional stability. Israel’s support is expected to bolster Ghana’s efforts, further strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
