USING SEXUAL VIOLENCE AS A TOOL FOR WAR

On Thursday, 18th April 2024, the Embassy together with the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Law School and the Crossroads Conversations held an insightful dialogue on Sexual Violence as a Tool of War in Armed Conflict.

On Thursday, 18th April 2024, the Embassy together with the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Law School and the Crossroads Conversations held an insightful dialogue on Sexual Violence as a Tool of War in Armed Conflict.

The discussion focused on the impact of sexual violence on victims and communities in times of war. It also discussed the legal frameworks governing war crimes and the role of international bodies like the UN in prevention and prosecution.

Panelist drew references from various cases of sexual violence during armed conflicts in Africa and the recent October 7th Massacre by Hamas.

H. E. Shlomit Sufa, Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone

In a related development, H.E. Shlomit Sufa also had an interactive session with some students of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Law School. She joined the Public International Law class to engage the students on Iran's recent attack on the State of Israel.

She had the opportunity to respond to several questions on the legal and policy implications of Iran’s actions and what the State of Israel intends to do. She also responded to questions on the ongoing Israel-Hamas War.
