Paying respect to the memory of a great leader

DCM Carter

Deputy Ambassador Rotem Segev:

Today, I paid my respects to the memory of a great leader by signing the book of condolences for the passing of the 39th President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter.

For many years, Israeli leaders have deeply appreciated his heroic efforts in bringing together two great leaders, Begin and Sadat, and forging a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, which remains a cornerstone of stability in the Middle East and North Africa decades later.

President Carter's legacy will forever be defined by his commitment to peace, and the pursuit of coexistence between nations.

On behalf of the people of Israel, I extend my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. We join the American people in mourning his passing.
