Ambassador Anolik:

Last night, we commemorated the Memorial Day for Israel's fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism.

With the weight of October 7 heavy on our hearts and minds, this Yom Hazikaron bears even greater significance as we solemnly remember and honor those who have fallen.

In an emotional ceremony, attended by members of the Israeli community in Cyprus, I spoke about people I knew who fell in combat or were victims of terror: my pediatrician, a classmate, a friend and a classmate of my daughter.

Their personal stories, although individual and unique, are also meaningful on the national level. Each and every fallen soldier or victim of terror had a full life and their death had a purpose. They made the ultimate sacrifice so that the rest of us can go on living in a safe and prosperous state.

May their memory be a blessing
