During his visit, Ambassador Sfari visited the Bachkovo Stavropegial Monastery "Assumption of the Holy Virgin," where he was warmly welcomed by Velichki Bishop Sioniy, the abbot of the monastery. Together with the chairman of the Organization of the Jews "Shalom" - Plovdiv, Svetlozar Kalev, they paid tribute to the Righteous Among the Nations - Patriarch Kirill and Exarch Stefan, who played a key role in the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during World War II.
The visit continued with a meeting with the Mayor of Plovdiv Municipality, Mr. Kostadin Dimitrov, and the Deputy Mayor for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, Mr. Plamen Panov. In the context of successfully implemented bilateral projects in various fields such as the exchange of know-how in agriculture, cultural, and educational initiatives, intentions were expressed to deepen ties and launch new joint activities.
Discussions on cultural exchange also continued with the management of the Plovdiv 2019 Foundation, where opportunities for future projects were discussed.
During his visit, Ambassador Sfari held a meeting with the management of the reproductive health center New Life Clinic, one of the major Israeli investments in the region.
Ambassador Sfari and Mr. Roni Goldberg, responsible for cultural and scientific affairs at the embassy, visited the Agricultural University - Plovdiv and the University of Food Technologies - Plovdiv. During the visit to the educational institutions, opportunities were discussed to expand academic cooperation between Bulgaria and Israel, including student and faculty mobility, joint educational programs, and scientific research in the fields of agricultural science and innovation.
