The visit of Mr.Poplinger to Burgas, began with a meeting with Ms. Alberta Alkalay, founder of the Alef Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation. Together, they visited the Square of Tolerance, where a monument stands honoring the brave citizens of Burgas who prevented the deportation of Jewish families to death camps in 1943 and 1944. They discussed future joint initiatives and opportunities for collaboration.
Mr. Poplinger’s visit continued with a meeting with Mr. Petar Todorov, Director of the international festival "The Age of Aquarius". During his visit, the Deputy Ambassador enjoyed a mesmerizing performance by dancers Shmuel Dvir-Cohen, who suffers from a neurological disorder manifesting in involuntary muscle movements, and Tomer Nevot, choreographed by Sharon Friedman. The performance captivated the Burgas audience and drew significant interest.
Today, Mr. Poplinger met with the Deputy Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Manol Todorov, who is responsible for the city’s cultural and sports development. They discussed the growing interest of Israeli tourists in Burgas and future plans for organizing international events.
