Let the world judge with its own eyes: The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice led an international delegation of senior legal officials on a tour of southern Israel and held high-level meetings.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, the heads of the prosecution systems and senior prosecutors from Germany, the US, France, Argentina and Austria - countries whose citizens were murdered or kidnapped during the October 7th Hamas attack on the south - visited Israel this past weekend.

They met with representatives of the Legal Counsel Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel's Attorney General's Office, and the Legal Counsel and Legislative Affairs Department at the Ministry of Justice. They were briefed by senior officials of the two ministries, as well as by senior representatives of the IDF, the Israel Police, the Israel Security Agency and more.

The purpose of the delegation’s visit was, inter alia, to promote investigations and prosecutions against Hamas and its senior officials, and to increase pressure on the terrorist organization on the legal front.

The visiting prosecutors toured kibbutzim in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip, visited Sderot and met with representatives of the victim’s families.

The prosecutors also met with State Attorney Amit Eisman, who briefed them on some of the challenges and actions of the office of the state attorney associated with investigating the terrorists. They were also briefed on the political and legal activities of the Foreign Ministry by Aliza Ben Nun, Head of MFA's Political Strategic Division and Tal Becker, the MFA Legal Advisor. In addition, senior officers from the IDF and Israel Police gave a briefing on the Hamas terrorist organization and reviewed crimes committed by its members.

The IDF Spokesperson’s video documenting the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7th was also screened for the visiting prosecutors.

Following the meeting with the victims’ families, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares declared: “The heinous crimes committed by Hamas are not directed solely against Israelis, but against all humanity. We will do everything in our power to fight the organization and its people, wherever they may be.”

The delegation included the Chief Prosecutor of Argentina, the Head of Anti-Terror Prosecution of France, the Deputy Federal Attorney General of Germany, the Deputy Attorney General of Austria, the Head of the Anti-Terrorism Division of the US Federal Department of Justice and the Attorney General of the State of Virginia, as well as additional senior representatives from these countries, including from the police and other law enforcement agencies.
